
Steve Kavulich is Head of Opportunistic Private Credit at NPC.
Steve brings nearly two decades of experience opportunistically investing across the credit markets ranging from performing to distressed assets in private and public markets through direct, secondary and co-investment opportunities.
Prior to Nomura, Steve was a senior member of the Direct Private Opportunities team at Blackrock where he sourced and underwrote private market investments. In addition, he served as Chair of the Investment Committee for Blackrock Alternative Advisor’s Co-Investment Business and led the team investing capital out of two drawdown funds and numerous SMAs across both income and opportunistic mandates. While at Blackrock, Steve served as a board observer and member of several Advisory Committees across different investments.
Prior to joining Blackrock, Steve was an investment professional at Gates Capital Management, an event driven and special-situations hedge fund, and a desk analyst in the Global Loans and Special Situations Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Steve began his career in investment banking at Lehman Brothers.
Steve earned a bachelor’s degree, Cum Laude, from Georgetown University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Steve is a board member of the Associate Board of Reach Prep, a non-profit that provides access to transformational educational experiences that empower underserved, high-achieving students to graduate from top colleges and emerge as the next generation of leaders.
